Williamsburg Antique Store Owner Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault

WILLIAMSBURG — The infamous Graham Avenue antique store owner who has allegedly threatened neighbors with a power saw, sexist slurs, and a baseball bat was charged with sexual assault Tuesday night, officials said.

Joseph Loiacono, 54, was arrested for “forcible touching” of a woman at his address 373 Graham Avenue, the 94th Precinct’s Deputy Inspector Terence Hurson said. The incident occurred Monday at 11:30 p.m., Hurson said.

The woman told police that Loiacono “touched her breasts and buttocks and while she was sleeping he removed her pants and touched her genitals,” Hurson said.

The woman —who said she was Loiacono’s friend — also “has advised [him] multiple times to stop touching her and that she did not want an intimate relationship,” Hurson wrote in an email.

Loiacono, who turned himself into authorities late Tuesday night, also faces charges of criminal contempt, menacing, and endangering the welfare of a child, menacing and criminal mischief, for which he is due in Brooklyn Supreme Court October 23, officials said.

As DNAinfo.com previously reported, Loiacono — whose notoriety has inspired an anonymous blog called "Scam Avenue" — allegedly threatened his next-door neighbor “while brandishing a power saw” and calling her a “c—t” in February, court papers said.

Earlier this year Loiacano allegedly violated a restraining order taken out against him by the woman, Lucille Bergamo, who had already claimed that he “repeatedly threw garbage” on her lawn and shook her fence until it broke.

"I’m going to get you," Loiacano shouted at Bergamo, according to the complaint.

Loiacano also allegedly threatened Bergamo’s husband, Cono Dellio, with a knife in February outside Bergamo’s building, telling Dellio “your time is coming soon.”

His lawyer Michael Marley did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Shut down.

Sources tell me there were about a half dozen cop cars at 373 Graham Ave today screaming the store has been shut down.

The cops made him take every last sign off the windows and everything off the sidewalk.

More as I get additional information.

You Either Are Or You Aren’t. Brooklyn.
Sometimes he stands outside his storefront on Graham Ave. manning his permanent sidewalk junkyard him adorned in his ripped white t-shirt radio blaring fist knocking in rhythm on a stringless guitar as if jamming along to the song.

This guy is CONSTANTLY stealing our shopping carts.  AND if he is indeed the owner of that house on Graham Ave, then this site is dedicated to him.
(Sidenote;  It is interesting how tumblr can sort of be like a community message board at times)

Big ups to Miss Heather at NewYorkShitty.com for the tip.

Stealing shopping carts, no big surprise there…

Joseph Loiacono — whose unnamed shop at 373 Graham Ave. is stuffed to the rafters with jackets, trinkets, paintings and old chairs — violated a restraining order taken out against him by his neighbor for a second time last week, and could face four years in prison on charges of criminal contempt, prosecutors said.

Loiacono, 54, told neighbor Cono Dellio to ”go home to your c—t wife, you big p—-y, while [Loiacono] was holding a bat in [his] hand” outside Dellio’s Graham Avenue apartment, according to the criminal complaint.

Some tidbits:

He pleaded not guilty before Justice Suzanne Mondo.

Thge judge told him he was no longer elgible for a legal aid lawyer and ordered him to hire a private attorney and return to court next week.

And in typical form:

When DNAinfo asked Loiacano about the charges, he burst into an incoherent rage before belting out an operatic aria and then presenting a deck of cards and offering to perform a magic trick.

In jail again?

Most mornings on my way into work I’d pop into Daniella’s for a quick bite on my way to the train but increasingly over the past few months that loud mouthed idiot would show up yammering on like a slob while I was trying to have a peaceful morning’s cup of coffee so I stopped going. However I noticed over the past week I haven’t seen him through the window so this weekend I decided  to go in and hopefully not have my morning interrupted.

It was interrupted but not for the reasons I thought it would be. A very entertaining discussion was taking place among the locals about Joe being holed up at Rikers for about a week now with no one to bail him out…he’s apparently had some skirmish with one of the neighbors and violated a restraining order. What’s more hilarious though is apparently no one is willing to bail the guy out of Rikers. It’s apparently gotten to the point where he’s asked the some of the locals to try and track down the a couple of his pals to beg someone to spring him.

It was definitely the talk of Daniella’s with everyone laughing hysterically at the fact not a single soul was willing to lift a finger for this guy knowing that if they paid his bail they’d never see their cash again. I savored my coffee, paid for my breakfast, and then left an extra couple of bucks at the table for the entertainment and good news.

Are you thinking about living here???

See this junkyard above? The owner has scammed quite a few people out of their deposits and rent. It started when some local bar owners tried to rent the space out then the Community Board rejected a liquor license for the location. Junkyard Joe decided he wasn’t going to pay back the $25,000 that he was legally bound to return based on the terms of the agreement. The court ruled against him to the tune of $27,000.

Flash forward to find a couple from the midwest who put down almost $4,000 in rent and security deposit only to have the “landlord” refuse them entry claiming because they didn’t have renters insurance they could not occupy the space. They also never got their money back.

Next victim, a tailor from Bushwick who rented the storefront only to find his sewing machines and other equipment unceremoniously dumped on the sidewalk less than a week after he moved in. That tailor lost about $3000 in the scam.

Most recently a girl rented the space, moved some of her belongings and a small kitten in. A few days later the kitten turned up crushed to death with Joe claiming a dog got in the building. She’s out around $3500 while Joe is trying to hold her to the lease. Her family also discovered all of the building violations and declared the junkyard a fire trap.

This flyer was recently circulated in the neighborhood by a disgruntled victim no doubt. A revised version of the flyer has alleged that he stole the house from his aunt. Property records indicate that the building was sold to Joe Loiacono for a mere $10 with the aunt retaining a life estate in the property, however she’s no longer in the neighborhood to get the real story.

For a guy in plenty of legal hot water himself it’s astonishing that he would waste the scant few resources he had on lawsuits quickly tossed out by the court or more hilariously ruled against him. Smarts, it appears, was never his strong suit.
